Support » Plugin: wpDataTables - WordPress Tables & Table Charts Plugin » Changing color and Size of “Expand Button” on mobile

  • Resolved snowfox6

    Hello, I have been searching and was not able to find a way to change the size and color of the “expand button” which has a + sign that shows up on mobile which shows the columns that are hidden on mobile.
    I just want to make it a little bit bigger and give it a more noticeable color like red or Orange.

    Hi, snowfox6 🙂
    At this time, we don’t have a user friendly built-in option to customize the size and color of the little “expander” + sign.
    But we will perhaps add that in the future, i will pass this idea to our developers.
    I can’t say an ETA when they might work on adding the option, though.

    At this time, it can only be done with CSS.
    Here is a CSS selector that you can use to manipulate the “span” container of the little symbol :

    span.responsiveExpander {
        width: 50px;
        height: 50px;

    And here is a CSS selector that you can try, to manipulate the styles of the symbol itself :

    table.has-columns-hidden>tbody>tr>td>span.responsiveExpander:after {
        background-position: 0 0;
        cursor: pointer;

    Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks
