I am interested in changing the url of the product category base to be the same as the shop url.

    So instead of
    “domain.com/product-category/xyz”
    this:
    “domain.com/[shop base]/xyz”

I changed the “product category base” in settings>permalinks to the same as my shop base, but when I do that and go to the category path (domain.com/[shop base]/xyz) it redirects to “domain.com/xyz” I do have another page on my site that has the same slug as the category, but when I changed the slug of that page to be different than that of the category, it then gets a 404 when I go to the category path.

Does anyone know how I can accomplish this?

    Many thanks!
    Caleb

  • Hello @caleb1 ,

    Thanks for reaching out.

After reading your idea, I tried to change my product category base to my shop page slug. It works properly for me. I can use both the shop page and category pages without an issue.

I have used the “shop” slug directly as I already know the slug of my shop page.

Having the same slug as the category should not be a problem if the page slug does not match exactly. For example, if the category slug becomes this – example.com/shop/category, you should not have a page under the shop page > category.

For more advanced control over the permalinks, you can try this plugin – Premmerce Permalink Manager for WooCommerce

    I hope the information helps.

    Thank you 🙂

    Thanks for the reply.
Funny that simply changing the cateugory base slug does not work for me.

It is not a big deal really, its just a URL.

Thanks for the plugin recommendation, might try that if I have a real reason to change it.

    Thanks again for the help.
