    I would like to know which CSS file and which id or class controls the background color for the footer widget area. I am not planning on adding a background image through the Customize section of the Appearance menu. I would like to have the full page width area just a solid HEX color. I have all ready started a custom CSS for other elements, but for some reason I can’t figure out the right code so I can change this particular background color.

    Your expertise would be appreciated so I can get this site live ASAP.

    If you’re not using a Child Theme, and if the theme doesn’t have a section for CSS modifications then do the following:

    1. Install this Custom CSS Manager plugin http://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-css-manager-plugin
    2. use its “CSS Code” section of the dashboard to hold your CSS modifications:
    3. (put this code in)

      html .site-footer {
          background: none;
      }

    4. Save

    Alternatively use your Child Theme style.css file to hold your CSS modifications

    Hi there – give this a try:

    .pre-footer::after {
         background-color: transparent; /* Remove background colour */
    }
    .pre-footer, .footer-site-title a, .pre-footer .widget-title {
         color: #000000; /* Change text colour so visible against white */
    }

    I see you’re already using Jetpack’s custom CSS editor, so you can add the above code there and let me know how it goes.

    .site-footer is the element for the copyright/credit area, so changing the background colour there won’t affect the widget area.

    Let me know how it goes.

    This worked perfectly. Thanks for the help. DL

    My pleasure. I’ll mark this thread as resolved but feel free to start a new one if you need help with anything else.
