Support » Fixing WordPress » Changes to a page are not saved

  • Hi there. I found some forum threads and tried the suggested solutions: Turning off visual editor in profile settings, using another browser and even another account, deactivating all plugins (by renaming the plugin folder temporarily), switching to Twenty Thirteen theme: Nothing is helping.

    The problem is like this:

Whatever changes I make to one certain page on our WordPress site, it will not be saved by WordPress. The only thing updated is the “Last edited by” name.

No text changes, no title changes, no status/visibility or page attribute changes. WordPress will say that changes have been saved after I click the update button, but all content stays the same.

I activated WP debug mode, but there are no errors or warnings.

Last edit to the page was made in 2005. Since then, we upgraded our server from PHP 5.6 to 7.1 and from MySQL 5.5 to 5.7 – although everything else is working fine and I _can_ edit other posts and pages, might there be a connection?
Also, I checked for (PHP) caching on the server and it is not active.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

As I tried to delete the page, its permalink was changed to “…/newsletter__trashed”, though it is still in the list of published pages instead of the trashcan. So I don’t have the option to permanently delete.

I was able to create a new “newsletter” page, which is working and editable.

So this problem is not fixed, the locked page still is in the system and can neither be deleted nor edited.

    Probably a bug in WordPress??

PS: As a last chance, I tried to edit or delete the page on wordpress.com (the site is liked via Jetpack), but it did not work either. “Error saving changes.”
