  • I have a hosting package with network solutions and I installed wordpress on it. Now when I type “MySiteName.com” or “www.MySiteName.com” it redirects to “MySiteName.com/wordpress1” since the wordpress stuff is located in a folder called “wordpress1.” I have done some troubleshooting to no avail. I simply wish to have my wordpress site attached to my original domain name “www.MySiteName.com.” Has anybody else had this issue? Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Install it on the root folder and not inside wordpress1 if you dont want it in that folder.

That shouldn’t be necessary. See Giving WordPress Its Own Directory.

How do I install it in the root folder? Network solutions requires that I choose a folder when installing wordpress which is usually labeled “wordpress1” by default. My root folder is called “htdocs” but when I typed that in, the url changed to “MySiteName.com/htdocs.”

I just did this today with a hosting company that wouldnt allow it to install on the root folder with a 1 click install function.

The way I got around it is installed manually. So delete it all and upload the files to the root directory then change wp-config to the database.

Or you can do what esmi said.
