I accidentally changed the wordpress address (URL) option in my “general settings” to what I thought would direct my page viewers to the homepage. Instead, I now cannot log in to my account. The homepage DOES come up with my preferred URL, but the theme is gone.
I’ve searched the forums for an answer, but all answers require me to login and change settings, which I obviously cannot do. Please help as soon as possible as it’s important that my portfolio page be accessible by possible employers. THANK YOU anyone that has some advice!!

If you have access to your web host’s control panel, you can go into PHPMyAdmin and change the URL in the database itself.

But you should be able to append /wp-admin to the URL that you typed in to change it and login that way.

Thanks so much for your quick response!!! We tried to append /wp-admin to the URL and it just directed us back to the home page…so no we’re attempting to change the web host’s control panel, through PHPMyAdmin. This question will REALLY make us sound elementary…but do you know what is used as the USERNAME? is it your site URL or the same as your account login? I feel silly asking : ( thanks!!

You mean the username for your web host? That you would have to ask your web host.

change the url back to original

then do it properly, once you have access again:

for full instructions on changing url back, and then moving properly.

Thank you all so much! I got it figured out. Everyone’s advice worked!! I really appreciate it!
