We have a new website name, one we’ve been waiting to snag and finally did. I set up my redirects and all that so the old name resolves to the new name in the url.

What do I change in my settings page so that the new name shows up on page permalinks, SEO meta-tags, etc?

I’m afraid to change anything on the settings page (like the Site address) because I’ve changed these before and then couldn’t get back into my WP dashboard.

    Thank you!

I changed the Home setting to the new name and now can’t get into my dashboard. Argh. This is what I was trying to avoid.

I’ve undone the permanent redirect for the old name to resolve to the new name. As soon as that takes effect, maybe I’ll be able to get back into my directory… but I got in this morning with the redirect in place so that shouldn’t make a difference.

Is there something I missed? Or do I have to go into the config and all that and change those now?

Ok, I guess I should have changed both the Home and the Site urls. I did the function.php thing: added the two lines of text, got back in the site and saw that now BOTH urls have been changed. I logged out and logged back in, all good. I removed the two lines of text in the function.php file, then went back to my dashboard and logged out/in… all good.

Also, the permalinks all lead to the new name base.

Thank you. I was afraid I was going to be at this all day like I have in the past when I screwed it up. WHEW! That was relatively easy.
