Changed theme and get “is currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 50

    Hi There,

    I just switched to a new theme on my WP PRoduction site, foolishly and this has now given me the 500 error.

    I cant acccess the control panel either.

    I understand I need to access the sites files via ftp, however, what will I need to do? Do I just delete the theme files that i switched it to? I switched to the Atomic theme, so is there any way to switch back to my Genesis theme via ftp?

    Feel completely stupid so any help appreciated!

    Access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme (Atomic). This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue. At this point you can switch back to genesis.

    Also a 500 error code is not very helpful in debugging an issue. You’d want to get the exact error text behind the 500 Internal Server Error. It can usually be found in your server logs ( separate from WP ) . Ideally it should be in a logs folder on your web hosting account. You may need to contact your host at times if this is not available. This will give us further clues about why its not working.
