@omdguy – Are you referencing “template” as the site theme, or as a custom template used with NextGEN Gallery?

Sorry, it is a new theme (Beat Heaven from Themefuse) which I am trying to use with NextGen. I am not convinced that the theme is the problem since if I simply try and browse to an HTML file, I can also get 403 errors as well! My FTP client tells me everything is CHMOD 755.

@omdguy – One of the easiest tests in that case is to temporarily switch to a default WordPress Twenty series theme. Also make sure to clear any caches as well, just in case.
Thanks!

Thanks Cais, unfortunately a new template yielded the same results. I will start disabling plugins to see if there is a caching issue there, but I’m not hopeful as I only have about 5 activated.
Before I ping my hosting provider, any other ideas?
Thanks, for your help!

@omdguy – a baseline installation of a default WordPress Twenty series theme and only having NextGEN Gallery activated is one of the best places to start.
See this for more ideas: http://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins#Troubleshooting
Thanks!

I get the exact same problem with any theme, and with only this plugin enabled and I am running version 2.0.76
Unless you have another idea, apparently I am spending the weekend finding another solution and rebuilding all of my galleries (200mb worth..)

@omdguy – That is unfortunate you are still unable to get this sorted out … what are you seeing under Gallery > Overview for your Server Settings?
