Support » Fixing WordPress » Changed Hosting (Reseller to Shared) – WordPress Media Library Not Uploading

  • Hi all,

I recently migrated my hosting and changed from reseller to shared hosting.

This meant some edits of wpconfig and all that jazz.

So the problem I’m experiencing is that on the sites I’ve migrated, the WordPress Media Library is uploading the files but then displaying them as blank documents (no title) and not clickable or viewable. The Media Library just cannot see it…however; when I FTP into the uploads folder the file has been uploaded fine.

Some thoughts I have whilst I’m trying to troubleshoot:
    1) Perhaps this is an SQL database/tabling issue?
    2) The file uploads fine into the /uploads folder, and all the other images/content on the site work fine (eg not a permissions issue?)
    3) The changes I made going from reseller to shared hosting may have played some havoc with the how media library tries to identify and catalogue new uploads?

I’m leaning towards SQL, but I have no idea how to fix.

    Any help is MUCH appreciated.

    Thank you!!

    Best,
    Tom

Have you tried file permission ?

I’d not touch anything else, since they are working fine already. Just check on /wp-content/uploads folder only. Typical setting is 755 for folders, 644 for files.
