• Hey

I’m really in a fix here.

My server is hosted with Digital Ocean and recently due to a threat they pulled down the test site I was working on. I had a WP site in progress that was almost complete when this happened. They saved our data in a new location.

My IT team moved me to a new domain now (http://128.199.65.145) but the site doesn’t have any of the images connected. Plus none of the pages seem to work although I can see them in the dashboard. Even the edited CSS file doesn’t seem to be in place.

The person doing this simply copied the files from one location to another.

How do I get my weeks worth of work back? I’m not a developer so please give me the dummy version if possible.

  • Hello,

All this happened, bc. all links (to images, css and anything what need url) is linked to previous ip.

You moved your site like it used the same domain, but it used ip address, so its different now.

In Settings – General – for both urls columns put right details (probably just ip until you will put domain there?) Btw. why its not already with domain name?

You can also use this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-search-replace/

It will overwrite anything in database (before you start to play with it, be sure to have back up, at least database backup).

So with this plugin you can overwrite old ip to new one (or domain if you will use it)

Before you do anything, read this: https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

In the dashboard > settings > general what does it think the address of the website is?
