Hi, I’m just evaluating Connections. I’m based in the UK so for addresses I need to display Postcode instead of Zip Code – is this possible? If so, how?

You can use the Say What? plugin to make this change. Here’s the link:

Use these settings to change standalone instances of “Zipcode” to “Postcode”:

    • Origina text: Zipcode
    • Text domain: connections
    • Text context: leave blank
    • New text: Postcode

In instances where “zipcode” is part of other text, you would change the entire string. Example: Related Entries by Zipcode to Related Entries by Postcode.

I hope this helps; let me know.

Thank you, I’m working through the documentation slowly and had just found that. Sorry for being too quick to ask for support, I have a deadline to meet and I’m having to entirely replace a CPT directory by hand, so I’m rushing a bit.

I like the plugin but there are a few other issues e.g. responsiveness, JPEG logos not uploading. Should I open a new thread for each? It would be quicker for both of us if I could email you a bunch of questions, is that possible?

    RE: responsiveness

All templates are designed to be responsive theme friendly.

    RE: JPEG logos not uploading

The upload process uses all standard core WordPress features/functions. To help isolate the source of the issue:

    • What is the error displayed, if any?
    • Are you able to upload the same exact image to the WordPress Media Library?
    • If you are able to upload the the WP Media Libray, please temporarily deactivate all plugins exect Connections. Does that correct the issue?

Thanks again for your quick response Steven, appreciated.

Re image problems: I’m testing with 3 businesses, 2 have a JPEG logo and one a PNG. The PNG worked fine, but on trying to save a business using a JPEG I get the error ‘No editor could be selected’, and the logo is not saved. If I hit remove for the apparently non-existent logo and re-save, the error is gone. I’ve re-exported the JPEGs as PNGs and they work as expected. I’m using GeneratePress and I only have Connections, Say What? and GP Premium activated, everything up to date. The images (either format) upload to the Media Library no problem.

If I go with Connections it looks like I’ll need a premium template and the Forms extension. As this forum is only for free plugins can I email you with some pre-sales questions?

RE: I get the error ‘No editor could be selected’

    • Are you able to upload the same exact image to the WordPress Media Library?
    • Please verify that the webhost has the GD library installed. This is a soft requirement for Wp and a hard requirement for Connections.

Please use the contact link at the very bottom of https://connections-pro.com/ to contact me with pre-sales questions.

    Thanks!

Images – yes, they come from the previous version of the site and have been in the media library there too. The site is local, (using Local from Flywheel) and has GD Library as far as I can tell. I just tried again with only Connections and Say What? activated JPEG and can confirm it is uploaded (it appears in the correct directory in uploads) but doesn’t display in admin or on the front end.

I work locally with GeneratePress every day and haven’t had any issues with images before.

    Pre-sales email incoming!

Look at the WordPress Site health page, does. Is it reporting any issues?

What I am asking … can you upload the JPG to the WP Media Library on the site you are having trouble with, the local one? I understand that it was from a previous version of the site and existed in a WP Media Library, but I am trying to determine if you can upload it as a “new” image to the local Media Livrey you are having the issue with.

Sorry I wasn’t clear, I meant yes, I have uploaded the image to this site’s media library without issue, and it has also been uploaded elsewhere so it’s not an image corruption problem.

I’m not sure if I can change Local’s configuration if that is needed, once it’s actually online I assume it will work as intended.

Everything looks fine. My best guess is this is just a local issue and likely something to do with the mime file check. But, that is just a guess. I know of no issues on live production servers.

OK thanks Steven. I’ve just done a quick and dirty test on another similarly configured GP site on a server similar to the one it will end up on and can confirm everything works OK re images. We’ll just have to wait until it’s on a staging server to upload the JPEGS, though I wonder if, seeing as the images ARE actually being uploaded, just not displaying, whether we could upload the locally anyway and they will then show up once it’s migrated. Let’s see.

Consider this resolved. Thanks again for your help.
