[Resolved] Change wordpress.com to wordpress.org account

  • I set up a wordpress blog account through wordpress.com and realized, I really needed a wordpress.org account so that I could utilize the plug-in features. How do I change that from a wordpress.com to a wordpress.org account if I already have a username/password, etc…set up. Any instructions I can follow or can someone provide a step by step.
    Thank you

  • You don’t really change…you go get a domain and a hosting solution and then install the WordPress software that is available from wordpress.ORG (see the Download tab at the top of this page).

    Start here:
New To WordPress – Where to Start

So once I get the hosting solution and the download on the server, It will automatically default my dash board and show the plug-in features? Or is there some additional steps I need to follow

I will also have a new domain anme and it will be different from the current one I have. Will that change anything? Or do I have to do something different.

well…the plugin feature is automatically included with wordpress

Your old wordpress.com domain name will have nothing to do with your new domain name really….. you’ll install wordpress on your new host, and use your new domain name…

Thanks, I just registered into this forum, and some of the questions where answered, I have a .com blog, and what to change to .org, I do have a hosting program, with Host gator, what was said above is that I download the wordpress software to my Host gator acct. is that right, my objective is to have an optin on my blog to my AWeber auto responder.
