    Hiya @vejapixel,

Marius here, one of the moderators here at WordPress.org

It’s not possible to change your username (this is much in keeping with how WordPress it self also doesn’t allow for this), as it is tied in with all the systems in play (such as trac, the bug and enhancement tracker for the project, SVN for plugins and themes and so on).

You can change your display name though, which can be done by visiting your profile at https://wordpress.org/support/users/vejapixel/

    Hi Marius,

It is not possible to change my username as it is linked to all systems, but in my case I would like to change my username on all systems.

Wordpress.org, by not allowing us to change our username, is preventing us from protecting our privacy.
Ok that our email is not shown publicly, and we can change our display name, but for some reason we could also want to change our username. This is privacy and WordPress.org is not respecting it.

I also found that if I want to remove my account, WordPress.org doesn’t allow it either, right?
This is another disrespect, as it is my public account on the internet and if I don’t want it anymore, it must be my right not to have it posted on the internet.
If I no longer want my Facebook, Twitter, Instagram account, it is my right to remove them. If I no longer want my bank account, it is my right to remove it. Any online account that uses my data, it is my right to want to protect, hide or remove.

You say that there is no way to change the WordPress.org system to allow changing a username or to remove an account, this is a lie, as all systems can be manipulated, fixed, altered, corrected and ect. You don’t allow it because you don’t want to allow it. It is easier for you to disrespect users who, for some reason, want to have privacy in their data.

If the reason for not allowing an account to be removed is because everything the user has posted will be lost, then you just have to set up the WordPress.org system so that when a user is removed, all that user’s posts will be automatically migrated to a standard account from WordPress.org, and so that user’s posts continued on the internet, however, without that user’s data. However, I believe that the WordPress.org system already allows this, because for those who have a WordPress website, they know that when we delete a user, all posts by that user are migrated to the standard user (usually the site administrator). So, we can see that it is the WordPress.org team that does not want to allow the removal of the user’s account, because they are disrespectful and do not care about the user’s total privacy.

Of course you can remove your account, the details of this can be found on our Privacy page at https://wordpress.org/about/privacy/

Since that is the direction you chose, and because topics like this often get out of hand, I’m closing it for further comments, you’ve been given the direction you can take in this case.
