I have a daily blog post which I upload using Postie on the day after the day to which the post relates. So, the post for 01/01/2021 would be uploaded on 02/02/2021 and so on. I correct the WP published date by using the “date:” field in the body of the email. Works fine.

However, each daily post includes two file attachments and these are placed in the WP uploads folder consistent with the date on which Postie processes the incoming email. This means for example that the published WP post for 31/12/2020 will have its attachments dropped in wp-content/uploads/2021/01.

I’d like to stop this happening and place the attachments in an upload folder that relates to the date specified in my date: field.

I can’t seem to find a hook that lets me get at the right data to do this before Postie commits the upload.

Any ideas would be really helpful.

    Paul

Postie uses standard WordPress functions for saving attachments into the media folder and doesn’t have any control over where it is stored. I suspect these functions just use the system date for determining the folder name.
