Change website name

    Hi,

    I have developed a new WordPress website on a dedicated server. So the website now has a name like 10.10.101.10. Also all the links of pages and images have http://10.10.101.10/ instead of the domain name.

    The old website with the domain name that we are going to use is still with another hoster. We are only going to change the DNS of the domain name. We are going to point that to the new server.

    But what is the best way to get the new website to work when the DNS is changed? To get the url that is now 10.10.101.10 to domainname.com? Do I only have to change the wordpress and site address?

    Once you’re ready (the DNS is set, etc.) install the plugin “better search replace”. Use it to search for http://10.10.101.10/ and replace with http://www.example.com/. That’s really about it!

    Is it necessary to change the WordPress URL and Site URL (in the settings tab) or does the plugin changes this also?

    The plugin will change that, too.
