Change URL

I’m new to all this and have learned a lot in the last month but no matter what instructions I follow, I STILL CANNOT make my site have just .co.uk. It still has /wordpress. I DO NOT know how to change it or where to move it. I do not know which instructions to follow as there are all different ones. In Filezilla, under remote site, I have my public_html folder. Within that I have a WordPress folder. Within that I have all my web files. I do not know where to move that WordPress folder, and I do not then know what to put back in the public_html folder, and what to change in the various files. Please can somebody help – in simple terms! I nearly lost everything last week following one set of instructions of what to do!
