Hi Jack. Thanks for getting back to me. I updated to the latest version today but even the Help button does not work. I also deactivated all plug ins but nothing. I wrote my own css right on the style sheet. Also, I have Fatcow as a host provider and I have had a lot of problems with WordPress. I can’t even get onto my account through the script page. Also, the address is wrong on the Fatcow one click install page. Do you think it has anything to do with them or is it something with WordPress. If I knew for sure maybe I could fix it. I sent Fatcow a request for help but it takes them like 24 hours to get back to me and even when they do, they never solve the problem and tell me they will forward it on to a WordPress expert and then I have to wait at least another day. Any help would be appreciated.

well, it may have something to do with them and i’d recommend changing hosting to a company that has 24 tech support rather than 24 hour wait times and handoffs. if your site is new enough (ie doesn’t have users or much content on it) i’d recommend starting over at a better more customer friendly host…
can you get into your site via cpanel or ftp? when you bought hosting you should have received an email with details of your hosting account and log in to the cpanel.
if you can get into that then try to rename the plugins folder (public_html -> wp-content -> plugins) to something else and see if that makes a difference. if it does then you have a plugin issue and we can work on that 🙂

Hi Jack. You are a genius. I took your first advice and checked my plug-ins and realized that they were not deactivated. I deactivated them and it fixed the problem. So I uploaded my new theme and am good to go. Now I just have to start over and customize it. I am leaving Fatcow and getting a VPS account with Dreamhost as soon as I can. I hope they are better with WordPress. My sites are so slow now. I hate fatcow. I used my ftp to upload the new theme folder at first but then when WP was fixed, I uploaded the zip to it so I have to check and see if there are now 2 theme folders on my managers page. I use Themify.me themes. They have an excellent Builder in the themes. I design sites in Dreamweaver with HTML/CSS but as you can tell, I am fairly new to WordPress. It’s a whole new ballgame. Anyway, thanks for all of your help.
no prob’s 🙂
i’d recommend activating your plugins one at a time and checking to see if you get any issues rather than reactivating them all in one go. this way you can see which one or combination of plugins makes things go squiffy 😀
Hi Laura,
If you have a problem at DreamHost and open up a ticket, feel free to drop the ticket number here and I can take a look 🙂 We have a home-brew panel (sorry for cpanel lovers) but we also have WP-CLI on all boxes which I think makes up for the funky chicken panel 🙂
