  • Hi webguy262 under Advanced -> Confirmation Email Settings, what have you entered in the fields?

I’m not referring to Confirmation Emails. IN fact, I do not have them enabled.

I’m talking about the “From” that appears on the email sent by the app to whoever is designated to receive it.

Say someone by the name “FooBar” fills out the form. The email that arrives from the site has “FROM: FooBar <info@DOMAIN.COM>” Makes it look like the person “FooBar” is the name associated with the email address “info@DOMAIN.COM”

I want the FROM: to be “DOMAIN <info@DOMAIN.COM>”

    Hi
I would like to customize the realname (I need first name and last name there) too
    Is it possibile?

Enter the name with a comma then email
    OURCOMPANY,info@ourdomain.com

    I really like FSCF

I’ve done everything I can think of but it always say “WordPress” as the from name and the address is always wordpress@mydomain.com

I am using WP-Mail-Smtp and it’s From name is my name and the email is myname@mydomain.com

I get the same result even when I disable wp-email-smtp.

Have I overlooked anything? Is there a conflict?

@brodephat, I just installed Fast Secure Contact Form, and it made no attempt to set a From address on the email, which says to me your issue isn’t a FSCF issue. WordPress is simply using it’s default Sender in the absence of one from FSCF.

If your SMTP plugin is not inserting your From Name and From Address for you, try a different plugin.

I’m not sure if the issue I’m having is the same or not. The plugin works great! What I am interested in changing is the “From” address when I receive the notification email.

Currently, all messages come from, what APPEARS to be the “Email to” address found in the basic settings. What I would PREFER is that whenever I am notified/emailed a message from the form, it goes to the “Email to” address, but comes FROM the email address entered in the form by the user. That way, I can easily reply without the response going straight back into in my inbox because I forgot that my address is the sender as well as the recipient…

This may be just an oversight in the settings on my part, but I have stared myself blind at the settings.

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

    TC1122,

Because of DMARC changes required by mail providers like Yahoo, Comcast, AOL, etc, it was necessary to use the web site email for the from address or mail would NOT be delivered.

Make sure you setup your form’s basic settings as instructed here:

The email you receive will appear to be from your site email address, but because the email header “Reply-to” is set as the form user’s email address. You should be able to just hit reply and send email back to the real sender. Also you should see the sender’s email address in the message content. So it is still possible to send mail to that address if the “Reply-to” is somehow ignored by your email program.

    @tc1122

What I would PREFER is that whenever I am notified/emailed a message from the form, it goes to the “Email to” address, but comes FROM the email address entered in the form by the user.

That’s a clear SPF violation and is going to cause you a whole bunch of headaches with the major email providers. Don’t do it.

    🙂

A few weeks ago I wrote that not using the From address was going to cause problems. Since then, I’ve discovered a way to use the Visitor’s email as the From address. By setting the MAIL FROM envelope response to the admin email, and the Sender header in the email to the admin email, it is possible to keep the From address as the Visitor’s email address and still pass DMARC and SPF validation.

This has been implemented in the latest version of my SMTP plugin, Postman SMTP. Just an FYI that you may find useful.

    Cheers,
    Jason

Thank you @jason, I am sure that will help many.

    Regards
