    Hello. We need help with the WooCommerce registration page and Mailchimp, please.

    In the EU we have to adhere to very strict GDPR rules and therefore have to change the following text of the Mailchimp newsletter checkbox on the Woocommerce registration page: “Please select all the ways you would like to hear from us”.

    We have already adjusted the text in the GDPR fields within Mailchimp. This text should actually be mirrored here by Mailchimp. I think the description field corresponds to this field. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work. We have tried everything there to intervene manually, but without success. Can someone help us please?

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    I have also uploaded a screenshot that shows what we want to implement: Screenshot

    @infonium This is a very easy thing to do. All you need to do is add a filter like this:

    function custom_mailchimp_string_translations($translated) {
    	$replacers = array(
    		'Please select all the ways you would like to hear from us' => 'Here is your version of the text',
    	);
    	return str_ireplace(array_keys($replacers), $replacers, $translated);
    }
    add_filter('gettext', 'custom_mailchimp_string_translations', 20);

    If you have any other strings that need to be translated you can do that by looking in our translation PO files. Also any other translation plugin would work as well so I would assume you have many ways of accomplishing this 🙂

    Hello Ryan Hungate. Thank you very much for your support. We have another question about that. Where exactly do we have to implement this? In the function?

    Hey Ryan, would you please be so kind and tell me where exactly I have to implement this. I’m relatively new to wordpress so I don’t know what to do. Best wishes, Nils.

    @infonium so sorry that this got lost in the threads – but please know that doing things like this require a developer’s knowledge – and I apologize for not saying that earlier. Typically you can just copy and paste these things into your theme’s functions.php file – but since you haven’t done that – I would highly recommend that you reach out to a developer for this help. 🙂
