    When I change the Site Title in Settings and click Save Changes, the website changes to only display PHP code for every page of the website.

    I have placed these screenshots online to better show the problem:

    Before:

    After:

    Settings:

    I have spent hours recreating my website and did a full backup (which I will restore). I then tried to change the Site Title and again, the website no longer displays, just code such as this for the home page:

    <?php
    /**
     * Front to the WordPress application. This file doesn't do anything, but loads
     * wp-blog-header.php which does and tells WordPress to load the theme.
     *
     * @package WordPress
     */

    /**
     * Tells WordPress to load the WordPress theme and output it.
     *
     * @var bool
     */
    define('WP_USE_THEMES', true);

    /** Loads the WordPress Environment and Template */
    require( dirname( __FILE__ ) . '/wp-blog-header.php' );

    I would very much appreciate any advice/help on this issue.

  • Howdy @juscommune,

    Sorry you’ve had some trouble here. Unfortunately, I don’t have a quick answer for you, but I do have some ideas of things you can try to help troubleshoot.

    This issue could have something to do with the way the server is configured. If that’s the case, you’d want to consult your host (1&1, I believe).

    It may also have something to do with your plugins or your theme. To troubleshoot this, you can try:

    – temporarily switching to a default theme such as Twenty Seventeen, to see if the issue persists

    – if you still see the issue, even with a default theme, then I’d recommend deactivating all of your plugins at once and then re-enabling them one or two at a time, starting with your most critical plugins, testing along the way by changing the title, and if it breaks after you’ve activated a particular plugin, you may have found your culprit.

    – check your host’s control panel to see if there is an error log of some sort and see if it’s logging anything when these issues happen.

    If using a default theme, deactivating all of your plugins, and researching server logs doesn’t help you find the culprit, definitely contact your host’s support and clearly explain the situation, incuding what you’ve done to troubleshoot.

    I hope that helps!

    Eric

    Thanks Eric, yes have spent hours trying all those options.

    As soon as I change the Site Title and click Save, all I see is PHP Code?

    Host (1and1) say they do not support Word Press, yet they advertise as a Word Press hosting specialist.

    It is all such as waste of time.

    Thanks anyway.

    Migrated it all to Bluehost and not a single issue. It seems 1and1 has some back end issues hosting WordPress and really had no answers other than to say sorry. 1and 1 was a huge waste of time and effort.
