Support » Fixing WordPress » Change site description (user-info)?!

  • Hi all .. I know this is a common problem because I can see many people have been here before, but I cannot find an answer..:

    A brand new WP installation has a: Site Title, a Tag Line, and a SITE DESCRIPTION

    Nowhere in the admin can I find a way to edit the Site Description, the bit which says:
    “This is a short description about yourself or your site. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…”

    I’m not stupid, I’m a professional web designer, but this is not obvious?
    Thanks in advance…

  • Tag Line = Site Description. If you’re referring to meta-description tags, then you need to look for an SEO plugin.

    Hi Esmi, no it’s visible on the index page, not visible anywhere else.
    The div has a class of “user-info”, I’m tryin got edit it from the admin:

    <div class=”user-info”>
    This is a short description about yourself or your site
    Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat
    </div>

    it’s visible on the index page, not visible anywhere else

    That depends upon what theme you are using.

    Ok, I would post a link but I’d rather this discussion didn’t turn up in Google for the websites name.

    It’s this theme: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/multi-color

    You get a Site Title at the top, under that in smaller text is the Tag Line, then below that with a dark grey background is the section I am wanting to edit, but I cant find it anywhere in admin?

    Try posting in that theme’s dedicated forum. With luck, the theme’s developer will swing by and offer some help. If you let me know when you’ve re-posted, I’ll then close this topic down.

    Ok, but surely the SQL database behind it is the same?
    I’ve gone through the SQL manually and cannot find it anywhere.

    $options[‘site_description’] ??

    I have posted in the theme specific forum.

    EDIT: I’ve just found it in: theme-settings.php
    AND can edit it from: Appearance / Multi-color Settings

    Cheers…

    What is displayed on the front end of your site is down to the theme.
