In regular WordPress posts it’s fairly straightforward to change the author of a post. How can I do that in CPT? Also, I’d like to change the words “Posted by” to “By” – can you direct me to that change or a short code I might be able to add to css?

    Thnx!

Within your post type settings, make sure you’ve checked “Author” within the “Supports” section and if you have already, see if the metabox is toggled to show when editing the post. This detail may be a bit different depending on if you’re using Gutenberg editor or Classic.

Regarding the “Posted by” part, this is going to be a template level change ideally, specifically with the archive.php template file in relation to your provided link example. There’s not likely any great easy way around this other than the template editing.

    Perfect – thank you!

    Welcome.

Your fix worked great for making author change on “quick edit” but is there anyway to add “change author” on the post itself in edit mode?

If the post type has author support set, there should be an “author” spot somewhere in the edit screen, the question is if it’s hidden for your user and if yes, where you need to click to un-hide it. This would be why i mentioned classic vs gutenberg editor.

If you’re using classic editor, make sure you check your screen options tab at the upper right corner.

If you’re using gutenberg, click the 3 vertical dot button in the upper right corner and then select “Options” from the menu that appears.

duh! many thnx, sometimes the simplest solutions escape me…

I know how that goes. They escape me too sometimes 🙂
