# Change PHP Version for WordPress Only

 * Hello
 * My customer have WordPress installed in the root folder and in the root folder
   there is also a third part “core app” installed.
    Unfortunately the “core app”
   actually only work in PHP 5.4 that makes the WordPress very slow…
 * Is there a way to update the PHP version to 7.2 only for WordPress and live the
   rest to 5.4 ?

 * I already do that and they are NOT WP specialised. They only propose me to use
   the option in they cpannel to change PHP Version of folders.

 * You only have two choices here:
 * 1) move WordPress into its own folder/directory and use cPanel to change PHP 
   version
 * 2) Migrate the site to a VPS, and hire someone to create custom builds of Apache
   and PHP 5.4 / 7.2
 * I suggest that you convince your client to have WordPress in its own folder/directory.
