Change Payment PayPal error

When attempting to change a payment method for a subscription to a new credit card number, I get the instant error “Please click the blue “PayPal” button below to log into your PayPal account before placing your order.” After that the page reloads and I get the error “An error occurred, please try again or try an alternate form of payment.”

I’ve tried a fresh install of WordPress 4.8 running theme twenty seventeen with only Woocommerce, WC subscriptions, and WC Braintree installed and I get the same result. Anyone else having this issue? Could use some help.
