So my blog (let’s call it was working fine until yesterday. In an attempt to make it visually more appealing, I was experimenting with some themes (only previewing them).

Finally, I was satisfied with a theme and activated it. Since that moment, I can neither access my blog, nor the admin panel. I also checked with a few of my friends and none of them is able to access the blog.

The only way I know of accessing the admin options is to login through address

Is there an alternative way of accessing the blog admin panel, instead of using the URL ?

  • Using an FTP tool such as FileZilla or your host provided File Manager, rename the theme folder to old-themefolder – run site.

It could be a single PHP warning/error/bug causing the problem. If you really want to use the theme, look into activating error display in WordPress to see how bad it is. Could require a simple fix.

    – Putting php_flag display_errors on in .htaccess
    – define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true); in wp-config.php
    – define(‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, true); in wp-config.php
    – php.ini display_errors is set to on

Also check your services error log. You should find access to an error log file through your hosting control panel. Post the error which I assume you will find for further advice.

Seacoast Web Design and WebTechGlobal, a big thanks to both of you for trying to help.
I was able to coordinate with the server manager and got the new theme folder removed. After that, I could access both my blog and the admin panel! My blog started to work again with the default theme, which I then changed back to the one I was using earlier.
Thanks again for your valuable suggestions! 🙂
