Support » Fixing WordPress » Change link to portfolio previews

  • Hello everybody, I used the portfolio item to show some pictures and related info on my page. Now, when you click on one of that pictures it (obviously) brings you to the related portfolio page. But the fact is that I don’t have any content to show except the title and subtitle.

So I’d like to change the ‘link to portfolio post’ with the simple ‘link to full-size image’. Do you think is this possible? Alternatively, remove any link from the images would be a solution.

I tried to swop the portfolio item with some image gallery plugins, but the effect is not as nice as with the first one.

How do those images become part of the portfolio? Did you insert them through the media library? If so, you can choose if and how the image being inserted links. You can choose no link, link to attachment page, custom URL, or link to original image file. If you edit the inserted image, you can change what link, if any to use.

    Thanks for your reply, bcworkz.

The element you see in the screenshot is the Rapid Composer ‘grid’ element that can contain portfolio or blog posts. The images are set as featured images of different portfolio posts.

I see. Then the code that is generating the grid needs to change, which sounds like is part of Rapid Composer. We’re unable to provide support for commercial plugins here because we cannot access the source code. This grid element is placed by a shortcode? If so, you need to identify the callback that handles the shortcode. Somewhere in there is code that generates links from the featured image of each post that the grid query returns. You’ll want to change it to link to the full size image instead of the attachment post. The image link is available in the attachment’s meta data somewhere.

That’s about all I can tell you without access to source code. I hope it helps.
