Support » Fixing WordPress » Change language to english after dutch installation

  • mvdg27

    Hi guys,

    I’ve installed a WordPress installation in dutch. I used the specific download for that. Now however I’ve decided I prefer to have everything in english.

    in wp-config.php, I’ve removed the define (‘WPLANG’, ‘nl_NL’); and now my admin panel has changed to english. Some stuff on my website however (the comment form) is still in dutch. And I can’t find where it is defined .. I’ve even renamed the folder ‘languages’ to ‘foo’, so it couldn’t read out the dutch language files for sure ..

    I’m guessing the dutch texts in the comment form are hardcoded somewhere .. anyone have an idea where?

    Thanks in advance.

    wouldn’t it just be easier to upload the english ver. of wordpress now?

    Ok, so it won’t mess up anything, if I just simpy upload the english version of wordpress? Off course backing up my config and themes ..

    Something like Steps 7 and 8 of Upgrading WordPress Extended should work. Also make sure you change your wp-config.php file so the WP_LANG variable is set properly. Should be:

    define ('WPLANG', '');
