Support » Plugin: WP-Matomo (WP-Piwik) » Change Individual Site ID

  • Hello,

We are using WP-Piwik as a Network Plugin on a WP Multisite install and it’s working great.

However, we are using a plugin called WP-Replicator to create some of our subsites and it’s successfully replicating everything – including the site’s Piwik ID – so all the sites created using that plugin are all reporting the visits as if they were the same site.

How do we reset the site ID for individual sites while WP-Piwik is running as a Network Plugin?

WP-Piwik running as a network plugin always attempts to get a site’s ID by using its URL.

If the URL changes, you can try to reset single sites using the site browser (-> settings, support, site configuration).

I’m having the same problem and am not quite clear on the suggested fix posted above.

I have a multisite install on which I’m using a plugin to clone sites. The newly cloned sites all have the same ID in piwik, although they should be unique.

What’s the recommended solution here – change the settings in piwik directly or is there a way to do it via the plugin?

    Thanks for the help.

If the site is already added to Piwik, you have to change it in Piwik itself. WP-Piwik uses the Piwik API to get the Piwik ID depending on the site’s domain.

To change a site ID WP-Piwik got before, you have to reset the plugin’s settings. By and by WP-Piwik will fetch the new IDs from Piwik.
