Change from xxx.com/category/yyy to xxx.com/yyy?

I tried to find the answer but wasn’t able to. Maybe this i the wrong section of the forum as well.

I wonder what the topic says. Can I exclude the “sub-dir-name” category in my categorylinks?

For example i want to change:
http://resespanarna.se/category/nyheter/
to
http://resespanarna.se/nyheter/
