Support » Theme: Hemingway » Change font in Hemingway blog title

  • Hi,
in the previous version of Hemingway, one could change the font for the title in the black box, and the line of text below. Although the option appears, I seem to have a sans serif font, rather than the custom font I am using for the entire site. This seems to have occurred recently with the upgrade to the theme. Has anyone else found this problem? Is there a workaround?
    Many thanks for your help,
    Pete

    Hi @petejeffs,

The self-hosted version of Hemingway has never included any font settings. Did you have perhaps use Hemingway on WordPress.com in the past? Because WordPress.com does have appearance settings for Hemingway Rewritten that are missing when you’re using Hemingway on a self-hosted site.

    Hi @anlino,
Thanks so much for your reply! The previous version (and indeed the upgrade) do allow modification of fonts and I use the standard Google fonts for WP plugin to handle these. I have always been able to apply Alegreya (in my case) to the entire blog, including the title and baseline in the black box. Curiously, although I apply these fonts to the “Branding” in “Modify theme”, they simply will not apply. On the other hand, these fonts do apply normally to menus and text in pages. So it is clear that there is one little change somewhere. I am using the latest version of WP, and the latest version of your theme. True, not a life or death situation, but I have always appreciated being able to apply this font throughout the site for consistency (it is part of the graphic ident of my company).
    Thanks again for your reply!
    Best wishes,
    Pete
