# Change DataTables strings

 * Hello, how are you?
    I want to change the English language to Portuguese language,
   so I followed the instructions in: [https://tablepress.org/extensions/change-datatables-strings/](https://tablepress.org/extensions/change-datatables-strings/)
   But I didin’t understood the whole thing at the end I guess.
 * In my server, I have now in the folder “tablepress-change-datatables-strings”
   3 files:
    lang-en_US.json lang-pt_PT.json tablepress-change-datatables-strings.
   php
 * The question is: Where/how can I change to portuguese from this point?

 * thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.
 * First, make sure that the Change DataTables Strings Extension is activated as
   a WordPress plugin.
    If your site is set to use the `pt_PT` translation, this
   should be used automatically.
 * If it doesn’t, you can add an extra parameter to your Shortcodes, like
 *     ```
       [table id=123 datatables_locale="pt_PT" /]
       ```
