change css position parameter based on amount of pixels scrolled down/up

I really need a WP pro for this one, I’ve tried for the last 5 hours to get this to work with no luck.

Ok all I want to do is have my css position for my div change from absolute to fixed once I’ve scrolled down the page a certain amount, and vice versa. In this situation I am using the Admired theme, and I am trying to get my second sidebar (#tertiary) to do this.

The desired result would make my site’s sidebar to appear to function just like 9gag.com’s right sidebar. I tried the “ScrollToFIxed” jquery script which seems to be popular and a bunch of other ones but could not figure out how to implement them, just broke everything or did nothing >:/
