change color of skill circle in zerif lite

Hi guys,

i already read through various support themes and i still cant figure out how to change the colors of the skill circles in zerif lite.
i already tied out all of the following which is written on this site:

i tired it first by adding a js to my child theme but changing the fg didnt have any effect on my website. no change could be seen.

afterwards i tried out the php version by adding a new plugin but this one neither worked out. no change at al was done to my website.

now i am lost and have no clue, how i can change the colours of the skill circles.
hoping that you have some ides how i can possibly fix this.
