Change color footer and search box widget in twenty eleven (child)

  • Hi everybody,

    as you can see here http://www.kanzleigallob.at/?page_id=16, the space between the post and the “proudly powered by WordPress” is white and I would like it grey like the rest of the page. I can’t find where in the style.css I have to change the color.

    Also I would like to change the color of the “search” widget because like it is now is almost impossible to see it.

    Any help?
    Thank you very much!
    Marianna

    Your child theme is not set up correctly – the style.css file should not be a copy of the parent theme – only changes should go in a child theme. Review:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

    Once you have that straightened out, add this:

    #page {
        background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #989898;
    }

    and add this too:

    .widget_search form {
        background-color: white;
    }

    Thanks WPyogi!

    Ups, I didn’t know about the child theme…now is going to be hard to find everything I already changed. Ok, I will take some time and do everything again 🙁

    I see that there is a #page under /*=Structure, one under /*=Global and so on…which one should I modify and let in the child theme?

    Thanks again!

    now is going to be hard to find everything I already changed

    Thank you kjodle, useful tool!

    And thany you WPyogi, I deleted everything and wrote only those 2 codes. The gray background works perfectly, but not the search widget…it’s still like default. Any idea?

    Thank you
