# Change child theme folder path

 * Hello, I’ve a child theme in the classic `-child` folder. I want to use a custom
   path for the child folder, e.g. `-childNEW`. Is it possible?
 * I don’t want to lose all the customazions I made on the child theme, but I want
   to try to develop a new child theme

 * Each theme has its own set of options saved in the database using the slug of
   the folder, so they can be distinguished from one another. The theme name inside
   the style.css file could be the same and that is displayed in the Theme admin
   page.
    You can make a new folder with a new name, but when activating it, it 
   will use default option values. You would need to use a plugin like [Customizer Export/Import](https://wordpress.org/plugins/customizer-export-import/)
   to save the options to a file, then switch to the new theme, and load the options
   from the file.
