2 more things to check. Postie uses the category slug when trying to find a match, not the name.

Also if you have the “Match short category” enabled it is possible it is finding a different item in the taxonomy, I recommend turning this off.

If you click “Debug” you should be able to see the category detection and assignment in the resulting output.

Wayne, I’ve been using your plug late into the night and all morning.
This is going to make posting to the site so much easier than showing someone how to use WP. Do you have any suggestions about plugins to use to display the posts to a “Page”? Posting to a Category based menu item has the best format but I can’t add a header to that type of display.
Even tried a Widget plugin but it reformats the post.

I don’t have a recommendation. I know there are various plugins to only show a certain category of post on a page, but I don’t use one.

You can also build this function into a theme.

1. I use the slug.
2. Match short category is turned off.
3. Debug is weird. Says,
Predecoded subject: Test
tag_Subject: Looking for subject in email body
tag_Subject: No subject found, using default [1]
Subject: Test

Yet email body had “test” in it. If the category is campaigns what should a postie subject line have in it, and the email body have in it if the purpose is to “test” it? The default category is NOT campaigns.

Can you send the email to my address?

Postie Subject line: campaigns: Then a subject

Sure. This what I will do. I’ll do a new one in a few minutes with a CC: to you

Went to a page – Your post ‘campaigns: A test of an alternate Postie category’ has been successfully published to <http://conservativepartymd.org/?page_id=566>.

I’m having a similar problem.
When I create a category:subject “Captain Bob:Where are we now” in the email, the post is placed on “Captain Bob’s” category as expected. It also posts on the web site’s home page. If you use “Captain Bob:” as the category, I’d like to be able to isolate the post to that category. How would I do that in postie?

I’m guessing if you don’t use the “category:” the post will go to the sites home page?
Thanks!
