Change 302 redirects to 301

  • I recently updated my permalink structure from:

    /%year%/%month%/%postname%

    to /%year%/%month%/%postname%/

Notice the trailing slash at the end, which was apparantly necessary for certain things to function.

When I now visit a post without a trailing slash at the end, the trailing slash gets appended automatically. This gives a 302 access code (moved temporarily). I would like to change this to a 301 access code (moved permanently). How do I do this?

    PS: Somehow the code:

    301 /year/month/postname http://www.mydomain.com/year/month/postname/

does not work in the .htaccess file.
