First, thank you for this very valuable plug-in.
Second, I have an odd behavior on my implementation. When I choose “Sign up” on a task that should be blank, I find that the fields have been “per-filled” with the event chair’s name and email. It can be over written but having it filled in is confusing to my volunteers.
I’m confident that I’ve just ticked the wrong box someplace but I would appreciate any help you might give in finding my error.

I don’t understand what you mean by “When I choose “Sign up” on a task that should be blank”

What should be blank, exactly? A task can’t be blank.

Note that if you are logged in, and you have previously signed up for something, then your info will be automatically filled out on the signup sheet, as a convenience so people don’t have to type their info in repeatedly. Also, if logged in as admin, you can do a “live search” of users, or past signups, by starting to type in the name field and it will show you matches which you can select from in order to be able to sign someone else up.

These options/settings are explained in the documentation:
    https://stephensherrardplugins.com/docs/pta-volunteer-sign-up-sheets-documentation/

If that’s not helping, then please elaborate and be very specific about what “should be blank”, how the sheet/tasks are setup, and what exactly happens.

Thanks so much for the quick reply.
“When I choose “Sign up” on a task that should be blank” – I struggled a little with that phrase when I wrote it. Stated differently, and I hope better, it reads, On each sheets page I created a list of volunteer positions as tasks. On the website, using the [pta_sign_up_sheet] shortcode, all the sheets are displayed.
    >From that page each sheet has a choice to View and Sign Up.
    >Choosing that takes me to the list of volunteer positions [created as tasks].
    >When I choose “Sign up” I’m taken to a page where a volunteer would normally sign up but instead of a blank form, the form appears with the chair name and chair email filled in.
As a data point, when I’m signed into the site as admin, I don’t use the name listed as chair. The chair [on the sheets page] is Matt Smith, I’m Al Olme and my admin ID is Gespanne, yet Matt Smith shows up.
I’ve decided to go back and clear the chair name and chair email. I hope that works.
While your site lists PTA Volunteer Sign Up sheets as a free plugin. would you consider putting a contribution button on your site? As a very appreciative user, I’d happily chip in a few bucks for the use of a plugin that does exactly what I want. There aren’t many plugins in this space that exhibit the degree of flexibility that PTAVSS does.
    Thanks again for your help.

Please note that I checked the link you provided yesterday, and again today, and for me it is NOT populating the sign up forms with the chair info. I am obviously not logged into your site as a user.

The only way that could happen is that while logged into your account, you signed up for something using the chairs info, and my plugin then saved that personal info to prefill the forms with what it thinks is your own personal info for any subsequent signups. As mentioned in my first reply, that’s a feature so that users don’t have to type in their same personal info each time (name, email, and phone).

To verify that this is NOT happening because of some strange bug (which I would have heard of by now, since this plugin has been available for many years now), try logging out of your account and try signing up for something as a guest. Then, create a new basic user account, login and try signing up for something. Again, you should not see any info the first time you sign up for something with a new account (and never as a guest that is not logged in). But, if you signup for one thing while signed in to a user account, then the next time you sign up, it will fill the forms with the same info so you don’t have to type it again.

P.S. – if you want to donate, there is a donate button right here at WordPress.org on the bottom right of the main plugin page:

It’s a simple PayPal link, which I also copied below:

In the time between my response this morning and your answer above, I signed in from another computer and the expected normal behavior was evident. During testing I did create a record that caused the issue. I thought that it would go away when I rebooted the computer [I’m old enough that I used to call that an IPL] when it didn’t I was really lost. The answer was a cell phone that I use to test pages to render correct responsive display. It was left plugged into the computer with the app running. I guess the input came from there. Anyway, it’s working and I appreciate all your help.

No, I currently don’t have any extensions or integration with paid membership plugins.

Glad you got the issue figured out. I’ll mark this as resolved.
