# CGI Error?

 * This has never happened before (www.pathsatlanta.org). But now anytime I add 
   content or try to change a setting, it breaks the back & front ends, and gives
   this:
 * “Server error!
    The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete
   your request. Either the server is overloaded or there was an error in a CGI 
   script. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster. Error
   500″
 * My tech support at the hosting company says:
    “The issue has been caused by the
   directive “Options”. Probably you are using a plugins which is changing the .
   htaccess file or the WordPress script is making the modification due a glitch
   or a problem”
 * Each time, they go in and either comment out the options directive from the .
   htaccess or something. It makes the site visible, but then when I add content
   or do something on the back end, I get the same results over and over.
 * Any ideas how I can fix this?

 * Be patient! No one here is being paid to help you.
 * Try deactivating all plugins and check to see if this resolves the problem. If
   it does, activate the plugins one by one – checking the post after each re-activation–
   until you find the problematic plugin(s).

 * Thanks esmi. I know no one is being paid to help. It’s just disheartening when
   it seems like all the other questions are being responded to except for mine.

 * Okay all. It took some hand-in-hand work with my hosting company to sit there
   and comment out the directive on the .htaccess each time I did something, but
   we found it was the “Download Monitor” plug-in which was giving us trouble. So,
   just to let you know, if you were thinking of using that plug-in, it can be problematic
   depending on your setup.
