Support » Plugin: Contact Form 7 Multi-Step Forms » cf7msm_posted_data cookie being set on single step form

  • Resolved bluerobot

I’d like to report some things I’m seeing with the cf7msm_posted_data cookie. This is on a membership site, so can’t share a link to the mutistep form.

I’ve got a 6 question quiz multistep form that’s working fine. When the last step of that form is submitted, it clears the cf7msm_posted_data cookie.

What I’m seeing that all the single-page forms on the site are also setting the cf7msm_posted_data cookie after the submit, even though they have no [multistep] tags on them.

The stray cf7msm_posted_data cookie is adding the all the fields in the cookie to the data being saved by the Contactic plugin.

Also, if I open the contact form in a new tab when I’m in the middle of a multistep form, the contact form email doesn’t get sent, but does get saved in the database.

Is there a snip of Javascript I can put on my single page forms that will disable the cf7msm_posted_data cookie?

I think that might be a bug. It’s not supposed to set the cookie without the multistep tag. I’ll look into it a bit more.

I can’t replicate the multistep form not sending an email when opening a form in another tab. Do you do anything with the form in the other tab?

I can fix the cf7msm_posted_data cookie being set in a non-multistep form. I’m testing this now and an update will be out later today/early tomorrow. Hopefully this will fix the other tab issue also.

    Thank you for reporting this!

Version 4.0.1 is out and should fix the issue with the cf7msm_posted_data cookie being set in a non-multistep form.

I installed the new version of the plugin, and verify that the cookie is not set on non-multistep forms. The “cross-talk” in saved data is gone, and I can submit a non-multistep form from another tab while on a middle step of a multistep form.

    Thanks for updating the plugin!
