Regarding this old post: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/available-akismet-options-in-contact-form-7
CF7 does not appear to be working as described in that post. If I use:
- [text* your-name akismet:author]
- [email* your-email akismet:author_email]
then the name and author fields get processed by akismet as expected. Contrary to what that post says, the body of the email is not. If I put the test string ‘viagra-test-123’ in the name field, it fails. When it is in the email body field, it passes.
As a workaround, I’ve put the akismet:author tag on my content field: [textarea addl-info akismet:author]. However it appears that akismet will not work correctly if that tag appears in more than one element. So I’ve had to remove it from the author field (I’m getting more spam where the questionable phrases are in the content, not in the name of the submitter).
So now akismet is checking my content field and the email field, but not the author field. Any suggestions?
