Is it possible to link uploaded images to the media file like in the self-hosted media uploader so that we get clickable images, which is needed for full-view lightbox or a custom gallery?
That’s possible. You can edit the link used for each image by clicking on the image you’ve inserted, and then clicking on the “Link” icon in the editor tools.
Also, any plans to enable custom taxonomies inside the WordPress.com editor and not only tags/categories? Thanks!
That’s not on our radar yet as this data isn’t available in the API by default, but you can open a new issue to make that suggestion here:

Thanks! I will post a suggestion at Github. About the linked images, that works fine now. An editor setting that links all uploaded media to the images per default would be even better since the normal blog contributor will not be familiar with linking images manually or why it should be done.
