    causes error that wouldn’t let us even log back into wp-admin!

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_core_new_subnav_item() in /homepages/21/d353207794/htdocs/testsite/wp-content/plugins/yd-buddypress-feed-syndication/inc/ydbfs.inc.php on line 29

    had to log back into FTP and delete plugin directly.

    This is a buddyPress plugin. As explained in the documentation, it cannot function and has no use if buddyPress is not installed and configured on your site.

    The error you mention indicates that BuddyPess was not present on your site, or is an outdated version.

    Version 2.0.2 of the plugin avoids crashing WordPress even when BuddyPress is not present.

    after clicking on subscribe I get this error:
