• After installing, my site would not load for customers. I contacted my hosting provider who helped narrow down the issue to this plugin creating over 300,000 calls. I do not recommend installing until this is resolved. It worked great for the first few hours, then all of a sudden my site began to load at a crawl due to the surge of seemingly spam traffic. Once I removed the plugin, the site began loading smoothly as normal.

A significant portion of this traffic — approximately 343,992 hits — appears to be targeting the following plugin: 343,992 /wp-content/plugins/showcase-payment-options-icons/js/spopm-payment-icons-plugin.js?

Based on this, we recommend reviewing the Showcase Payment Options Icons plugin. You may also try temporarily disabling it to see if this helps resolve the loading issue.

    Hi

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

I’ve just updated the plugin and removed the .js file you mentioned, as it was empty and not required. You’re welcome to give it another try — if the issue is resolved, I’m genuinely glad to hear it.

That said, the extremely high number of hits (300k+) on a simple, non-functional JS file is unusual and strongly suggests that there may be more going on with your site or hosting environment. A small, frontend-only plugin like this — especially one without any external calls or heavy scripts — should not cause this kind of server overload.

While I fully respect your experience, I do want to point out that this is a free plugin offered to the community in good faith. If you run into issues, the support forum is the right place to start a conversation. Leaving a public negative review without any prior engagement can be discouraging for developers who contribute to the open-source ecosystem.

    All the best.
