also, a shortcode to display “all” events (not only a specific year) would be great 🙂
    Keep up the great work!

Categories are planned for one of the next releases.
Also displaying all events should be possible soon.

Initial Category support is available in the new version 0.4.0.

Categories work very well in 0.4.0.

I did notice one odd thing which I’ll point out if it comes up.

I have a few upcoming events on my home page.
    http://www.broadbrookcoalition.org/

I have two category lists on the main event page.
    Like this:

    [event-list num_events=10 show_nav=false link_to_event=false show_cat=true cat_filter=walks_talks]

    [event-list num_events=10 show_nav=false link_to_event=false show_cat=true cat_filter=volunteer]

When I click on any event on the home page, it shows just one event using the first short-tag regardless of the category, but the 2nd short-tag will do it’s normal work and show all events of that category. I’m not sure what the best behavior is, but you might think about how to disambiguate this, so perhaps the tags only show events that were sent as parameters and match category regardless if they appear first or second tag.

Anyway, thanks again for a good plugin.

At the moment the event details are displayed instead of the event list if the specific value is set in the url.
So what you want to do isn’t possible yet.
Probably I will add an option to alternatively how an extra page for the event in one of the next releases.
