• I just install wordpress 3.5.2 on mac OSX 10.6.8 with XAMPP and ftp serveur direct from mac tools (works very good in comparaison of the ftp serveur provide by XAMPP).
So in the backend admin user page (only one user: admin) of categories, when i add a categorie, all seems to work well… but if i go away to an other page and go back, no categorie is view. Only the link said the total nuimb er of categorie is right here.
So… when i go on add article page adding and try to select one categorie, and go back on the articles pages list, no categorie in the list is viewing.
So, when i go in the database MySQL in the table, all the categories exists, also in the other table who list all names of this…
Same from Firfox or from Chrome or Safari web browser.

    Same for tags words.

Also, this is the best working job, because if i change in the parameters the view in the adress bar like mode of call, all the list of categories disapeares also from the articles modules backend tools like they never exist.

So… i would like to understand what’s happen, because this is very important for me to be able to use the categories for make a sens to my futur blog (maybe on WordPress if can works better).

  • Hi have you created any posts under your categories? Sometimes the caregories don’t show unless they have posts in them.

Yes, i’ve created 3 posts and indicate categories in each of them.

So, now, i’ve try with MAMP and this work good.
I see that, with XAMPP, there is somme access problems with database. So, i never arrived to find precisly wich is the file access failed. In the logs files, some indication about one file named under “/var/he/…something-other-like-no-sens” and which not exist (also, the way doesn’t exist to… very strange !). It is a files from MySQL database (sure) like other generated form this database… And also, the user who used the enrty have ALL GRANT PRIVILEGES.

So, i’m not an expert on database and MySQL… i think now that it is a problem included in XAMPP package inside MySQL files software.
I find no-one on the web who talk about this precisely. But sure now, something is buged, ot in WordPress, but in MySQL from XAMPP distrib.

    Think you for your help.
