I want to be able to make posts part of certain categories, but not display some of these categories on the sidebar.

Specifically, my blog currently categorizes each post in three categories (1. author/subcategory, 2. title/subcategory, 3. reviewer/subcategory). I want to add a new parent category, genre, and have many child categories below it. While I want the author, title, and reviewer categories to be visible from the main page, I do not want “genre” to be visible. I want the individual post to be the only area that lists this category.

    Any ideas?
