    Hi,

    I see how we can select categories for the recent posts, but I would like it to only show recent posts based on the category page the sidebar is on.

    We have 1 sidebar available for all Blog Archive Pages on our theme. I was hoping we could set this plugin up so if the sidebar showed on our Events archive page, it would only show events recent posts. If it showed on the Press archive page, it would only show press related posts.

    Is this possible?

    Hi Mike, I did this one one of my old sites.

    You need to install a custom sidebars plugin which allows you to set certain sidebars for certain categories, and posts that appear in those categories.

    So then you have the widget in that sidebar, for example Events, which will only show events posts. You then set the plugin to only show that sidebar in the Events category, and then you have what you needed.

    I believe I used WooSidebars to make this work properly, although there are some alternatives.

    These days I use a directory based multisite so I have completely different site content for each “category” which appears on the same domain.
