Could you please check this KB article to see if you can find the answer to your issue here — https://kb.yoast.com/kb/xml-sitemap-errors/

If you disable the remove prefix /category/ in the URLs, does this resolve the issue? If you disable and re-enable the XML Sitemaps under SEO > General > Features, does this also resolve the issue?

If you are using any caching plugin, you may want to clear the cache and see if that resolves it as well — https://kb.yoast.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-cache/

I’ve tried all of this before, but none solves the problem for /category-sitemap.xml. Probably plugin’s module does not fetching correct path of categories URLs in this sitemap. Some URLs are good and more incomplete (and with capital letters!).
P.S. A caching plugin can not cache something (URL) that does not exist.

Can you please check your categories to see whether there are the canonical URL is set manually using the Yoast SEO plugin?

Canonical URLs have not been set manually. Meta box Yoast SEO for categories is disabled (hidden). Breadcrumbs are disabled, too.

Can you please confirm whether the issue persists while all non-Yoast plugins are disabled and the default 2017 theme is active?

If yes, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.

Maybe you will consider to ”apply me a premium email support” for all this translatins (https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/ro/default/wp-plugins/wordpress-seo). Or maybe not…

While we are unable to confirm this to you in here, we recommend you please send us an email at translations@yoast.com and include this topic URL so that our translate team can decide about this.

I sent an email, 4 days ago, at translations@yoast.com with this topic URL, how long should I expect a confirmation?

Please know when you send in a support request, the email goes into a queue. Most likely, you will have others ahead of you. We answer support requests on a first come, first serve basis, and how soon a department responds back will depend on the number of other requests they receive. We understand your request is important and will respond as soon as possible.

Very long queue for translations department…

I’ve updated status today: NOT RESOLVED!

A custom canonical has been set for these categories. After enabling the Yoast SEO metabox for categories, please follow these steps for each category with the wrong URL.

    1. Edit a category that has the wrong URL.
    2. In the metabox, click on the ‘Advanced’ gear icon.
    3. Remove the canonical so the field is blank.
    4. Click ‘Update’

This is really a direct answer to my subject, after so many months… Thank you my friend!
